Nardo Polo, Where Are You?

Back in 1990, there was an offbeat hit making the rounds on all the Top 40 stations by a band called '2NU'. The song was 'This is Ponderous'. A lovely little spoken-word number about some whacked-out dream. I thought it was wonderful.

I wanted more. But, the only thing I could find in the music store at the time was the single, with a sci-fi-sounding number called 'She' on the flipside.

Years go by, and things get forgotten. Until, sometime in the late 90s, I'm looking through the offerings at mp3.com and, lo! I find not only this wonderous song from back in my youth, but more off the original album! Count Em Up Queek, DDS Blues, Spaz Attack... I'm in heaven!

More time goes by. Some time in '00, I build a great multimedia machine for myself and go to re-download the songs. A pal points out a site that has all of the original songs in mp3 format—and even better—that the band has re-formed and put out more music! So, I head on over to 2nu2.com and order both their new releases, Command-Z and 2nu2.com..

One of the news items on their site is that there is going to be yet another helping in the not-so-distant future called The Big Adventure, a 7-part story in song.

There's a taste of the story on 2nu2.com—three songs: Chapter one, The Submarine; Chapter 3, The Island; and Chapter 6, The Legend.

"But, I want the rest, dammit," I pout while virtually jumping up and down, pounding my fists on my hips. "Nardo Polo, where are you?"
